Skilled immigration refers to the movement of individuals with specific qualifications, expertise, or work experience to another country to address labor shortages and fill gaps in the local workforce. Governments often use this to attract professionals in fields like healthcare, engineering, IT, education, etc., to boost their economy and address labor shortages.
It usually involves meeting criteria like: Work experience in a high-demand field. Educational qualifications (degrees, certifications). Language proficiency (English, French, etc.). Sometimes, a Job offer or Nomination from the country.
Countries like Canada and Australia have skilled immigration programs, offering Permanent Residency to qualified individuals. Basically, it’s all about matching talent with opportunity!
Since ages Canada is one of the most preferable dream destinations for many to immigrate and the country has been accepting immigrants from worldwide with open arms. Express Entry is the primary online platform where qualified applicants can submit their applications for various immigration programs.
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP)
Once applicants meet the eligibility criteria of any of the aforementioned programs, their applications are registered in the pool, and candidates are assigned Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, which are capped at 1,200.
Applicants may also apply for provincial nomination programs. If selected from any province, they can add 600 points to their main CRS points.
Each month, the Government of Canada conducts round of invitations to select high-ranking candidates, who are then issued invitations to apply for Permanent Residency.
As an applicant you must meet a minimum threshold of 67 points to qualify for FSWC and these points can be secured on basis of your Age, Education, Experience, Language proficiency and other factors such as, Blood Relatives, Study in Canada, Experience in Canada and Spouse Language Proficiency.
You must have a minimum 1 year of full-time experience post master’s degree or 2 years full time experience if your highest qualification is graduation. Experience within the last 10 years will be counted and there should be paid evidence for employment, also your occupation should fall under designated skill level O, A or B.
You must get your ECA – Education Credential Assessment from one of the governments approved agencies to have the equivalency of your credentials and based on the equivalency report you’ll be entitled to claim points towards application.
You must score Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 or more depending on your points from other factors. The approved language proficiency tests are IELTS – International English Language Testing System, CELPIP: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program and PTE – Pearson Test of English. Furthermore, TEF Canada (Test d’évaluation de français) is authorized for individuals who can demonstrate proficiency in the French language.
Must have sufficient proof of funds to settle yourself in Canada.
As an applicant you must have one-year full time experience in Canada within the last three years or equivalent amount of Part time experience and there should be paid evidence for employment, also your occupation should fall under designated skill level O, A or B.
You must score Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 or more depending on your points from other factors.
Your occupation should fall under designated skill level O, A or B of NOC – National Occupation Classification.
Applicants can reside in any of the provinces except Quebec.
This program is the best suitable for those who have gone Canada on Work Permit or Student Visas.
As an applicant you must have two years full time experience or equivalent amount of part time experience within the last five years as a skilled trade and should have paid evidence.
Skilled trades people may work in sectors such as Natural Resources and Agriculture, construction, Transportation, Manufacturing and Industrial.
You must get your ECA – Education Credential Assessment from one of the government approved agencies to have the equivalency of your credentials, i.e., completed certificate, diploma or degree.
You must score Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5 for Speaking and Listening and CLB 4 for reading and writing.
Must have sufficient proof of funds to settle yourself in Canada.
The Australia Immigration process is the most dynamic and streamlined immigration process where a candidate needs to first get their skill assessment from government approved agencies / authorities.
Once the assessments are done, applicant needs to register their profile with the Department of Home Affairs as EOI – Expression of Interest and applicant must meet a minimum benchmark of 65 points to register their application and parallel if required we need to apply for State / Regional Nomination to secure selection of clients application.
Eligibility 65 points can be secured on the basis of your Age, Education, Experience, Language proficiency and other factors such as education / experience in Australia, souse qualifications & English proficiency, STEM qualification, etc.
Once the nomination is received, an application for Permanent Residency / Temporary residency will be filed with the DHA – Department of Home Affairs for visa approval.

VISA SUBCLASS
- Skilled Independent Visa – 189 Subclass: You are free to live, work, study anywhere within Australia.
- Skilled Nominated Visa State – 190 Subclass: It’s a state nominated visa and you must reside in the nominated state as the occupation is highly in demand in that province, but as it’s a Permanent Residence Visa which gives your rights to explore Australia without any restrictions.
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa – 491 Subclass: It’s a 5 years temporary residency which gives you rights to live, work, study in a designated regional area of Australia. You can convert this visa to Permanent Residence Skilled Regional Visa 191 Subclass after 3 years of initial visa grant and must prove 3 years taxable income at a specific income threshold. Please note this visa 191 Subclass will not be eligible to apply until 16th November 2022.
